INDIANAPOLIS—Indy Connect, Central Indiana’s Transportation Initiative, will hold its first public forum 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Englewood Christian Church, 57 N. Rural St., to get feedback from members of the community on a draft regional transportation plan. Residents and other local stakeholders will have the opportunity to speak with transportation experts about the draft regional plan and provide input and suggestions for improvement. Residents will be able to view maps and a video outlining each of the plan’s recommendations, which include more bus service, commuter and light rail, expanded roadways, and pedestrian walkways and bike paths.
Additional meetings will be held throughout the week, including stops at Fishers Town Hall, Arthur M. Glick Jewish Community Center, and Plainfield and Greenwood public libraries.
Indy Connect—a collaborative effort between the Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization, IndyGo, and Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority (CIRTA)—will hold nearly 30 public meetings throughout Central Indiana from February through the end of March to gather input on the draft plan, which builds on decades of public studies and the recommendations of the Central Indiana Transit Task Force, a group of business leaders dedicated to identifying transportation solutions. Public feedback and suggestions will be incorporated into a revised plan in late 2010 that will be presented to the public for further consideration.
For more information on Indy Connect, including a draft map outlining the various modes of transportation, their proposed routes and a list of additional public meetings, or to submit feedback on the draft plan, go to www.indyconnect.org.
